Burkhard Vogtherr

Burkhard Vogtherr, born 1942, is one of the most well-known German furniture designers. Many of his beds, upholstered furniture and office furniture have been awarded several design awards, some of which are international. Hardly any other designer has more knowledge of themes such as sitting posture at work, movement and product development. Burkhard Vogtherr has developed furniture for clients throughout the world: amongst others, for Rosenthal (Germany), Arflex (Italy), Bushy (Japan), Davis (USA), Fritz Hansen (Denmark) and Dietiker Switzerland. Burkhard Vogtherr originally learned a trade as a cabinet maker. In 1967, he earned his diploma as an industrial designer at the Kassel and Wuppertal Art Schools. Since 1972 he has been self-employed. Today he works in his atelier in Mulhouse, France.
